Weatherstrip coatings from Momentive Performance Materials are thin, flexible coatings applied to dynamic rubber seals – especially of EPDM – in automobiles, such as door, window, roof or trunk edge seals. The goal? Improved functionality, durability and comfort

These coatings are typically water-based, PFAS-free, and primerless, making them more environmentally friendly and easy to apply.

Specific product variants

WSC4029

• Water-based silicone coating with excellent noise reduction, high abrasion resistance, water repellent and good release properties.
• Rapid heat hardening (~1 minute).

From gluespec:

• 3-component liquid formulation, without NMP, tin or isocyanates.
• Application temperature: between 80 °C and 230 °C (online), ≥ 80 °C offline.
• Spray application via HVLP guns; coating must be filtered to prevent clogging.
• Kana lifetime of 24 months (unopened, 2-43 °C).

WSC1042

• Water-based, single-component silicone coating: strong abrasion resistance, good water repellency and noise reduction. Available in matte finish.

WSC4009 (mentioned in the overview)

• Top class in noise reduction for car door edges. Excellent release, adhesion to EPDM/TPE, water and abrasion resistant.
